Sharleen J. Rivera, MS, LPC, APCC
Lic.#99823, APCC #20672
Psychological Associate
Clients come to therapy for many reasons—sometimes because something feels painful or overwhelming, and other times because something simply doesn’t feel quite right. What matters most is having a space where clients do not have to perform, find the “right” words, or rush toward answers. Therapy can be a place to slow down, reflect, and develop a deeper understanding of oneself and one’s experiences.
Ms. Rivera’s approach is psychodynamic and depth-oriented, with a focus on understanding patterns that develop over time—how past experiences, emotions, and relationships shape the ways individuals think, feel, and respond in the present. In therapy, she works collaboratively with clients to notice and explore these patterns at a pace that feels thoughtful, steady, and supportive.
Ms. Rivera’s training informs how she listens and engages in the therapeutic process. She holds an undergraduate degree in Biology and Biochemistry from Baylor University, which influences her awareness of how stress, emotion, and life transitions are experienced not only cognitively, but physically as well. She completed her graduate training in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy at Pepperdine University, grounding her work in an understanding of relationships, emotional systems, and the broader context of each client’s life.
Ms. Rivera works with clients across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults, and has experience supporting individuals who are neurodivergent or have neurodevelopmental differences. As someone who lives with a disability herself, she brings particular care, respect, and attentiveness to how each client experiences and navigates the world.
Ms. Rivera tends to work especially well with clients who are thoughtful, curious, or feeling stuck despite their best efforts. Sessions are conversational, grounded, and collaborative, with an emphasis on connecting insight to everyday life in ways that feel practical, manageable, and meaningful.
Outside of therapy, Ms. Rivera enjoys reading, crocheting, decorating planners, cooking, gaming, and being lovingly supervised by her ferrets.
